This blog is dedicated to my beloved family.
I’m a wife, mom, geek, musician, and hiker from the Pacific Northwest. I spend a good chunk of my spare time on the trails around the Cascades. For three years now, I’ve been section hiking the Washington and Oregon portions of the Pacific Crest Trail.
I was given my trail name in 2014. Another hiker wanted to know my backstory, so I explained how I learned to hike as a kid, and that my Dad taught me the rest step…a hiking method which helps save energy and distribute the load on steep uphills. She immediately bestowed my name on me, in memory of Dad. So from that day on, my fellow hikers know me as Rest Step.
